Q 1. Where do the trains run?

Ans. 1 The train runs over the mountains, plains, and rivers.

Q 2. What are the “precious loads” that they carry?

Ans. 2 The passengers and the mails are the precious loads that trains carry.

Q 3. When do the trains run?

Ans. 3 Trains run through the day and darkness and the dusk and dawn.

Q 4. What is ‘dusk’ and ‘dawn’?

Ans. 4 Dusk is the time when the sun sets and dawn is the time when the sun rises.

Talk time

Q 1. Do you enjoy train rides?

Ans.1 Yes, I do like to ride trains.

Q 2. If you had to travel over a long distance, how would you like to go and why?

Ans. If I had to travel over a long distance, I would have gone by train because it’s always great fun to ride a train for me.

Q 3. If you had to spend the night on a train, what would you need to take with you? Draw and name the things you would need in this suitcase.

Ans. If I had to spend a night on a train, I would carry water, food, blanket, torch, soap, and towel.

Note:- Draw the picture of articles you had to carry in the suitcase i.e. blanket, towel, and soup, etc.

Let’s write

Q 1.  Describe an interesting train or bus journey you have taken, or would like to take. Write four sentences about your journey. You can use some of the following words and phrases.

Ans. 1 I was on tour to Shimla with my uncle. We went to the railway station in the morning. It was a crowded place. We went to the ticket counter and bought the tickets. After that, we went to the train and took seats. The train had time to move, uncle set down and brought tea and bread slice from the tea stall. Suddenly, loud whistle blown everyone rushed to the train and it started to move. After some time I could see big and small trees form the window. Small hills were visible. I was thrilled to reach Shimla. I enjoyed my first journey to the hills very much.
