Q.1 Why does the poet feel that the nose is a funny thing?

Ans. 1 The poet finds the nose funny because it sticks like a handle with two holes on the face.

Q. 2 Why is your nose important for you?

Ans. 2 Nose is important for us because it helps to breathe and smell.

Q. 3 Does the child in the poem like her nose? Why do you think so?

Ans. Yes, she likes her nose. Because it makes her giggle.

Let’s talk

Q. 1 Describe a few funny things you have seen. Do they make you laugh?

Ans. 1 Things make me laugh, cats trying to catch its own tail; when child babble.

Q. 2 What does ‘features’ mean? Look up the dictionary. What are the different kinds of features of people we come across in the world?

Ans. 2 Features mean parts of the body or face and their appearance.

Different features-

1 Round, long or flat face.

2 Tall or small in height.

3 long or small nose.

4 Big or small eyes.

Let’s sing

Q. 1 Sing this song and march as you sing. When you come to ginger, take two steps back and say 2 – 3. Then start again.

Ans. There was a girl

So tall and thin and fair

Her hair, her hair was the delicate shade of ginger.

Note: – Sing this song and move forward along with students. When you reach last word ginger take 2 steps back and say 2-3. And start again singing the song. Repeat the process until students learn how to sing.

Fun time

Q. 1 Sit in groups. Look at your friend’s face and describe what you see. Use words like long, round, oval, slanted, sharp, flat to help you. You can use other words also.

Ans. 1 My friend’s face is long. He has a long nose. He has tiny black eyes. He has thin lips. He has sharp features.
